WWW Wednesdays – 2nd August

I’ve felt like I needed to add some different kinds of posts to my blog for a while, so I’m participating in WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words. It looks like a great way to just take stock of your own reading, and find more books through other bloggers’ posts.

Visit her blog and you can leave your answers in the post comments, as well as linking to your own blog post. Feel free to leave a comment here too!

So here goes:

What are you currently reading? The Sellout by Paul Beatty.

It’s an American satire, dealing with race, popular culture, politics, and all manner of other aspects of life. It took me a couple of chapters to get used to Beatty’s style, but it’s proving to be hilarious, profound, and brutally honest. I’m very glad I picked it up last month.

What did you recently finish reading? Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.

Well, it’s been over a week since I finished this and I still cannot stop talking about it. I adored everything about it – characters are drawn so magnificently, the plot is engaging, and it combines humour with pathos so skillfully that I could barely put it down!

What do you think you’ll read next?

I had a spectacular book haul in July – HarperCollins titles in particular – so I have lots of choice. I think I’ll probably go for Debbie Johnson’s The A-Z of Everything. It follows two sisters as they discover, after their mother’s death, something she had written for them to help them move forward. The likelihood that I’ll end up crying are very high, but it looks like a good read nevertheless.

Like I mentioned earlier, please feel free to comment with your reads of the week, and link to your blog! Would love to hear what you’ve been reading!
